Since the Grenfell tower disaster of June 2017 the Government has appointed former chair of the HSE Dame Judith Hackitt DBE FREng to head an independent review into the disfunction between building regulations, British Standards and current fire legislation , name the Fire safety Order 2005 and the Housing Act 2004.
Following the Lanakal house fire of 2009 and Coroner Frances Kirkmans recommendations , this is long overdue

In December 2017 the interim report from Dame Judith Hackett was published in full:
We are awaiting the final report in the spring of 2018.
As of now, current building regulations Approved Document B, together with BS9999 and BS9991 remain unchanged.
